The latest thing sweeping the internet (or maybe not) is light graffiti aka light painting. Have y’all heard of this yet? Basically it’s a newly popular “photographic technique in which exposures are made usually at night or in a darkened room by moving a hand-held light source or by moving the camera. In many cases the light source itself does not have to appear in the image.” (Wikipedia) Though people are making it popular these days, it actually dates back to 1914! Wow!
Here are some examples:

I love these. I don’t know exactly what it is, but something about them makes me smile. My favorite examples are the ones where the actual light source can’t be seen. I can’t imagine how many takes it would take to get the desired effect. I also can’t imagine how many combinations of exposure, shutter length, light sources, etc. there would be to creating these works of art. Something I surely don’t have the patience for. I freakin` love this idea! I think it would be great to blow up a photo of this and put it on wood, or on screenprint and have it as a large, graphic piece of art (which I’m totally into these days). Nice!

It can be drawing, or constructing, or photographing, or something other, but rarely all in the same space at the same time.
